First-half goals from Manchester United teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo secured a momentous 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester City, and booked the Red Devils’ spot in the UEFA Europa League next season.
Nineteen-year-old Garnacho fired United ahead after 30 minutes before Mainoo, also 19, finished a magnificent move with United’s second goal nine minutes later.
Substitute Jeremy Dokubo pulled a goal back for Man City three minutes from time, but it was not enough as Premier League champions City fell short in their quest to become the first club to win back-to-back League and FA Cup doubles.
Defeat ended Man City’s 35-match unbeaten run, while Erik Ten Hag became the first manager to beat Pep Guardiola’s side in a major domestic cup final.
