PRESS STATEMENT

The National Union of Gaming and Lottery Workers (NUGLOW) stands unequivocally with the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) against the baseless and unfounded allegations by the Nigeria Police.

NUGLOW affirms the clear deference between colonial economic policies and welfarist economic policies.

Whilst Tinubu adminstration serves the political-economic interests of Western powers with anti-people neoliberal economic policies that has brought unprecedented hardship to the people, welfarist Comrade Ajaero courageously speaks and fights for the collective interests of Nigerian workers, the people and the downthrodden.

Without any iota of doubt the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun is being used to unjustly intimidate and witch-hunt the NLC President, just as Egbetokun’s self-confessed benefactor, has openly declared the NLC President an enemy of his vindictive and extremely wicked anti-people government.

Unfortunately at this age and time, the Nigeria Police (NP) remains as they were during British colonialism, as a willing instrument of political-economic oppression and repression. Today, NP is now being used by an irresponsible and colonial ruling-class to dehumanize Nigerian people, and particularly to destroy the warning and humane voices of dissent who dared challenged the recalcitrant tyrannical, neo-fascist and colonial state.

Comrade Ajaero cannot be hoodwinked and forced to stop fighting the cause of workers, no matter the shameful label and spurious allegations to defame his character.

NUGLOW, therefore calls on Nigeria workers to stand solidly behind the NLC President and to resist any attempt by the repressive and neo-fascist Nigeria state to arrest and detain him whenever he honoured the police invitation obviously contrived to silence him.

We therefore wish to state with all sense of historical and existential responsibility that Nigeria Workers and peoples, all stand solidly behind our President who speak on our behalf.

Solidarity Forever!
Aluta Continua!!

SIGNED
Comrade Gregory Olatunji
General Secretary.
