PRESS STATEMENT OF AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS OSUN STATE ON THE APPOINTMENT OF ADEKUNLE OMOYELE. A RETIRED CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE AND FORMER CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER TO GOVERNOR ADELEKE AS THE NEW COMMANDER OF AMOTEKUN CORPS, OSUN STATE.

We of the African Action Congress party hereby demand the immediate removal and prosecution of Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police and former Chief Security Officer to Governor Adeleke. This demand is in- line with a case of extra-Judicial murder of one Olalekan Aberdeen a brother to Olalekan Rukayat and his younger brother’s wife in August 2022 at Ede, Osun State.

We are compelled to make this demand Sequel to the headlines in the news on 4/7/2024, that Isaac Adekunle has been appointed as the new Commander of Amoteku Corp by the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke.

In a viral video interview between a popular radio presenter and blogger Mr Oriyomi Hazmat and an indigene of OSUN STATE a woman named Olalekan Rukayat Olasoji from Ede who narrated her ordeal with one Akogun a PDP Chieftain who also doubled as a prominent chief in the Timi of Ede’s palace was alleged to have had an altercation between him and her mother, which degenerated into civil unrest and eventually claimed his brother and step daughter’s lives after Akogun used his influence to unleashed a serial killers SARs gang led by Adekunle Omoyele on her as they shot at his brother who came around to ask what has happened between her sister and the police officers on ground. This later continued until her step daughter was also killed and their family house was burn.

We opined that the PDP led government of Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke can not claim to be unaware of this matter as it was all over the news. For instance, in a news released by the vanguard online and quoted thus;

“MR Bola Abimbola-Ige, counsel to Olalekan’s family, whose son, Abideen was allegedly murdered by police operatives, yesterday, disclosed that the Chief Security Officer designate to Senator Ademola Adeleke, CSP Omoyele Adekunle, has reportedly confessed to killing Abideen.
Abideen Olalekan and Kafayat, his younger brother’s wife were allegedly killed by operatives of the Commissioner of Police’s Tactical Unit headed by Omoyele after a row ensued over election largess released by the Governor-elect, Adeleke.”

Based on the foregoing, it becomes a matter of duty to tell Mr Governor that the appointment of Mr Adekunle as the Commander of the Amotekun Corps is inimical to the lives and properties of the people of OSUN STATE. We suspect that this appointment was not done either based on merit or in line with the need to improve the security of lives and properties of Osun people, but in a bid to compensate Mr Adekunle Omoyele for reasons yet unclear to the public.
We strongly condemn this appointment or any of such that has ever been or would be entrusted to Mr Adekunle Omoyele. We opined that such sensitive position of the Commander of Amoteku Corps is not supposed to be entrusted to an ex killer cop, also because the western security network code-named AMOTEKUN is said to be symbolising the bravery and good virtue of the western Nigeria.

Therefore, Mr Governor is not expected to have entrusted such position to individual of questionable character and this has always being our position as an ideological based political party, that all serial killer police officers should be relieved of their work and be prosecuted according to the human right law and international charter.

We hereby demand that Governor Ademola Adeleke should

  1. Immediately terminate the appointment of Mr Adekunle forthwith.
  2. Conduct a thorough investigation on this matter and other all other unprofessional conduct which Mr Adekunle has been indicted, including the indightment by the Osun State EndSars panel and if found guilty should be prosecuted instead of being politically compensated.
  3. That all characters involved in the Ede unrest should be investigated without bias and prosecuted accordingly to serve as deterrent to other political gladiators who might want to use their political crest to undermined the peace of the state in the future.
  4. That Governor Ademola Adeleke should be mindful of individuals he would be entrusting with position of service to the people of OSUN STATE.

We awaits the governor’s actions as events unfold.
